Hildenborough is two miles north-west of Tonbridge and five miles south-east of hildenborough estate agents letting agency image.Sevenoaks lies in the River Medway valley near the North Downs.

The name Hildenborough derives from Hilden, from the Old English hyll ‘hill’ and denn, ‘woodland pasture.’, making the ‘Hill Pasture’. Eventually the suffix ‘borough’ from ‘burh’ manor, was added to it.

In the town you will find Philpots Manor a Grade II listed 16th century manor house that was once home to the de Philipot family, one of whose ancestors, John Philipot, had been Lord Mayor of London in 1378. Today the manor house can be hired as a venue for civil weddings and partnerships.

Famous local residents have included Sir Henry Cooper the heavy weight boxing champion and Dame Kelly Holmes, the double gold medallist of the 2004 Olympics.

The railway to London opened on 1st May 1868 and has made it an increasingly popular commuter town, with journey times to London of around 45 minutes. Although Hildenborough has many shops of its own, the B245 connects it to Tonbridge and Sevenoaks and a greater variety of shops and nightlife.
