Eight miles southeast of Royal Tunbridge Wells in the beautiful Teise Valley, lamberhurst estate agents letting agency image.Lamberhurst sits in gently rolling downland at the north-west edge of the picturesque Bewl Water, surrounded by orchards, hop gardens and a vineyard. Parts of the village were originally in both the counties of Kent and East Sussex, but the county border was moved to allow farmers in Sussex to get a better price for their hops!

The River Teise is one of the main tributaries of the River Medway - part of the river valley was flooded to create Bewl Water.

Lamberhurst is located in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in the Weald - 'Weald' means wilderness or forest and the High Weald was once an untamed, wooded area, with patches of wild grassland and heathland. By Domesday the High Weald remained the most densely wooded area of England and even today boasts the highest proportion of ancient woodland in the country.

The village is now bypassed by the A21 trunk road, which previously ran through the village. Its closest railway station is Frant, which confusingly is four and a half miles away in the hamlet of Bells Yew Green. From here you can reach London Mainline stations of Cannon Street, Waterloo and London Bridge in around an hour.

On the old A21 you'll find The Chequers, a lovely old Kentish riverside country pub with a history back to 1137 when it was a manor house. It has been a pub since 1414. When used as a coaching post house there was stabling for 58 horses and it was last used as such in 1913.

Being so close to Royal Tunbridge Wells, you can easily enjoy the shops and nightlife there as well. Click Royal Tunbridge Wells to find out more about transport links to London, Gatwick and Heathrow.
