Langton Green

Langton Green, two miles west of Tunbridge Wells, lies on the A264 Tunbridgelangton green estate agents letting agency Wells to East Grinstead road, between Rusthall, Groombridge, Speldhurst and Eridge.

Historically this was a farming and a quarrying area - the quarry lies about 1/2 mile towards Speldhurst. Today Langton Green is a village with a population of about 3,000, much of which is located in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) close to the Kent / Sussex border and surrounded by the rolling English countryside.

Like most traditional villages it boasts a church, a pub, a school and a village green as well as an assortment of local shops. All Saints Church was designed by the eminent Victorian architect Sir George Gilbert Scott with the stained glass for the windows supplied by what was then the little-known firm of William Morris and Co.

One of the local pubs is The Hare was known as The Greyhound until 1986. It is a popular meeting place throughout the year and overlooks the Village Green.

Langton Green Schools

Langton Green Primary School
moved from the original building (now a private house) next to the Church many years ago and is housed in purpose built premises by the local recreation ground. It has an excellent reputation and there is a long waiting list for places.

Holmewood House School is a well-known private preparatory school in the village.
